As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. Many people out there don't know that panther refers to the colour not the species.
This is properly a black leopard.
There are also black jaguars and black cougars that are also called panther.
While the Florida Panther which is the only big cat officially named panther is actually a subspecies of the cougar and is the normal tan, black, and white colours. ^.^
The cougar has the distinction of bearing dozens of common names, mountain lion, paint, painter, panther, puma, etc.
Your gorgeous leopards have the unofficial distinction of being responsible for the largest number of deadly attacks on humans.
It looks like you have a great zoo or wildlife preserve there.
